Oakdale is one of the easier suburbs to price, and the reason is its history: a city that grew 45 percent a decade from 1970 to 2000 and then stopped has a housing stock of one broad era, and driveways that mostly look alike. The published metro range applies, with less spread than usual.

Uniform stock means a narrow quote. Oakdale incorporated in 1968 and added population at more than 45 percent in each of the next three decades before flattening almost completely. About 11,600 housing units, 77.5 percent owner-occupied, most of them from one thirty-year window. In snow terms that is a city of similar two-car driveways with few of the very long private drives found further east, and an operator can quote it with confidence from the address alone.
The sidewalk stays out of scope by default. The city says plainly that it directs minimum resources to sidewalks and prioritizes streets, and it publishes no owner deadline in hours. No ordinance clock, so no forced sidewalk line item — the quote is driveway, plus whatever walk you ask for.
The parking ban starts at midnight. Oakdale bans street parking midnight to 5 a.m., November 1 to April 1, and any time accumulation reaches 2 inches until the street is cleared. For a contractor that means clear curbs on route, which is why a well-run Oakdale route is cheaper to serve than one where cars sit in the way. It does not show up as a line on your quote, but it is part of why the range holds.
Check which road you are on. Oakdale does not plow Washington County roads, state highways or private roads. On a private street, the entrance and cul-de-sac bulb are the association’s to arrange, and that is a different contract with a different price.
Oakdale publishes no sidewalk fine, no ticket amount and no cost-recovery charge on its snow pages. Its one financial warning is about placement: do not push, shovel, blow, sweep or plow snow onto a city street at any time, snow goes on the right-of-way adjacent to the nearest property, and violations can carry a fine — unstated in amount. State law fills the number in: Minn. Stat. § 169.42 makes it a misdemeanor with a $400 minimum on a second offense.
The other published cost is the one you avoid: a mailbox toppled by the plow blade is replaced by city crews, but damage from the force of snow coming off the plow is yours. A post that is solid in October is the cheapest insurance in this section.
Run the arithmetic before anyone runs it for you. Two inches is the standard residential trigger, and the DNR's long record gives the Twin Cities 7.6 such days in an average season. Multiply by the published $75 to $100 per visit and you get $570 to $760 — which is the seasonal price. The difference is who carries the bad-winter risk, not the average cost. Oakdale moves from salting to plowing at exactly 2 inches, the same depth most residential contracts use, so the city’s plow days and your paid visits will roughly coincide. No operator publishes an Oakdale rate. The metro ranges published by established Twin Cities operators are $600 to $750 a season for a two-to-three-car driveway with a front walk, and $45 to $100 per visit. Oakdale’s consistent 1970s-to-1990s housing tends to land quotes inside that range rather than at either extreme.
Not by ordinance. The city publishes no property-owner clearing deadline and states that it prioritizes streets over sidewalks. If you want your public walk cleared, it is an add-on you choose, typically $25 to $60 a visit at published metro rates.
Not directly. It keeps streets clear for the city plows and for contractors working a route, which is part of why Oakdale is efficient to serve. What it does change is your own exposure: a car left on the street after midnight from November through March can be ticketed.
